“Tom and I did everything we could to get and maintain a project. We would make chicken soup if the client asked.”
meet our founders–
making the earth more memorable since 1987
Earl and Tom founded TBG in 1987 on the core values of client relationships, service, and innovation. Today, nearly four decades later, TBG still practices landscape architecture and planning by staying true to our company values of inclusivity, authenticity, and inquisitiveness.
Earl has enjoyed a prolific career that’s included working on projects around the world, teaching landscape architecture, and serving in state-level positions with the Texas Historical Commission. Earl was honored by the American Society of Landscape Architecture in 2010 when he was elevated to Fellow.
A gifted storyteller, Earl is semi-retired and still engaged with the firm.
Tom retired in 2022 with more than 30 years of wide-ranging professional experience encompassing all aspects of planning and landscape architecture. Through the years, Tom focused on planning for large-scale developments and has shaped the look and feel of many successful communities throughout Texas. Amongst TBGers and clients, Tom was known for his Afflerbach Classic golf tournament that was not at all about golf.
Since retiring, Tom has enjoyed spending more of his time painting.
