The urban pedestrian paseo helps create better connection to the streetscape and adjacent site as well as permeable access to the district. Additionally, an 11th floor roof deck with downtown views will be fully accessible to the public. Staying true to Austin ethos, the design places an integral focus on preserving heritage trees and existing bungalows that honor the history of the site. By working with the City’s arborists and urban design team, enhanced solutions to the urban forest and streetscape were created including increased soil volume for street trees using soil cells as well as an enhanced native planting palette to better reflect the riparian zone.
