We’re thrilled to share two TBG projects received recognition in this year’s Austin Business Journal Commercial Real Estate Awards.

Project of the Year: Travis County Courts Facility

Much more than a courthouse, this new downtown facility was envisioned as an iconic, publicly accessible civic venue that safely accommodates a wide variety of users and provides connections to nature in the city. Located on a full city block, the facility provides multipurpose public space for recreation as well as dining and gathering, in addition to a grand, elevated arrival at 17th and Guadalupe. The landscape design accommodates a roughly 22-foot grade change across the site as well as relocating and transplanting an existing heritage live oak on 17th Street. The scope includes a series of roof plazas and private terraces for judges, rain gardens at grade and on terraces, and harvesting of air-conditioning condensate for water features.

Best New Office Building: T3 Eastside

A mixed-use T3 (Transit, Timber, Technology) construction development, which features a heavy timber office that redefines the standard for the modern, creative office space, as well as a boutique residential experience. Featuring 15 loft-style units, the structure was constructed using sustainably sourced wood and aims for LEED Gold certification. Paying homage to the industrial Plaza Saltillo transit-oriented development, the design incorporates brick, steel and wood to create a sense of place and will feature large wood-block benches along the streetscape to compliment the building and celebrate the sustainable wood construction. Additionally, AC condensate is captured to irrigate planting – conserving water while also beautifying raingardens which treat stormwater runoff.
