TBG is proud to announce that Park Eight Place has earned the Walkable Places Program designation in Houston! An ambitious mixed-use development in collaboration with Johnson Development, Gensler, and BGE that’s transforming the former sprawling 70-acre Halliburton campus in Westchase, our team is reimagining the placemaking canvas where urban planning meets green spaces, and where work, dining, and leisure seamlessly blend together.

While TBG has worked on other projects within existing Walkable Place districts, this marks the first time we have been a part of getting a new Walkable Place district approved and established. It’s a milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to creating people-focused, sustainable urban environments and experiences that prioritize health, wellbeing and safety.

A Vision for Walkability and Connectivity
Located in Houston’s Westchase area along Bellaire Boulevard, just west of Beltway 8, Park Eight Place is strategically positioned for accessibility and convenience and designed to set a new standard for mixed-use urban developments. Featuring a grid design, the project offers multi-modal accessibility—whether by foot, bike, or transit—thanks to its connection to Bellaire Blvd and the Brays Bayou trail. Key features include:

– Wide sidewalks, planting buffers, and permeability that promote safe and comfortable pedestrian access.

– Streets featuring a mix of uses: office, retail, hospitality, residential multi-family, and public park spaces to encourage vibrant street-level interaction.

– Discreet vehicular parking integrated internally within the site, preserving the district’s walkable nature.

More than just sidewalks and bike paths, the Walkable Places Program enriches the pedestrian experience and supports high-density, urban mixed-use development that considers people over cars. By embracing these principles, Park Eight Place not only fulfills the city’s goals for walkability but also aligns with the Westchase District Long-Range Plan to enhance connectivity and community engagement.

As we move forward, TBG remains committed to developing projects that prioritize pedestrian experiences, enhance connectivity, and contribute to a more vibrant, accessible Houston.
