From Lubbock Avalanche-Journal…

The City Council has approved plans to move forward with a downtown civic park that leaders hope will serve as a multi-functional “living room” for all of Lubbock.

During its meeting Tuesday evening, the council voted 5-2 in favor of what could ultimately be a nearly $11 million park – funded through a mix of donations, grants and some tax revenue – at what is currently the former Lubbock Power & Light building at 1301 Broadway.

Taking inspiration from the surrounding wind turbines, TBG went with a “wind and water” theme. The hopes of the proposed park will be to become the new “Livingroom” of Lubbock by including an amphitheater, shaded pavilion, seating, restrooms, a water feature, public art venues and areas for food trucks.
