In 1987 Earl Broussard and Tom Afflerbach took a leap of faith and established The Broussard Group, operating from an extra bedroom in Earl’s home in Austin, Texas. The team worked with the Houston Zoo on their pioneer project — designing the landscape architecture for a sea lion exhibit. From there they moved onto bird, alligator, and penguin exhibits, and eventually made their way into the domain of high-tech campus design the following year. Only three years into business The Broussard Group was able to institute a secondary office in Houston, and the business continued to boom.

Now, in 2022, we are humbled to announce this year marks 35 years at work for TBG Partners. It has truly been the greatest honor to witness our firm grow and flourish and live out our mission of reshaping raw space into livable places.

With four office locations across Texas and 120 visionary minds we are merrily celebrating this huge milestone. TBG’s achievements and accomplishments are countless, and we owe it all to our clients, supporters, and the genuine passion of our people. TBG looks forward to another successful 35 years alongside everyone, and we’re confident the best is yet to come.

To celebrate this anniversary TBG is looking back on 35 projects from each design sector — healthcare, hospitality, education, community, public, and urban planning and design. This trip down memory lane will begin shortly through a series of blog posts just like this, and we look forward to reminiscing over the projects and sharing our journey.

Sincerely,

TBG.
