TBG Partners Welcomes Gonzalo Echeverría as Principal, Director of Design, Urban Design + Planning Studio

Addition of nationally recognized leader reflects firm’s continued investment in design excellence and strategic growth

HOUSTON, April 30, 2025 – TBG Partners is pleased to announce the addition of Gonzalo Echeverría as firmwide Principal and Director of Design for the firm’s Urban Design + Planning studio. Based in TBG’s Houston office, Echeverría brings nearly three decades of global experience and a future-focused design philosophy to the firm’s leadership team.

This key hire reinforces TBG’s strategic plan to expand its urban design and planning services and elevate design leadership across studios. In this role, Echeverría will guide the creative direction and design quality of community development-focused projects across the firm’s four offices, supporting the continued evolution of resilient, inclusive, and people-centered places.

“Welcoming Gonzalo to TBG marks a defining moment for our Urban Design + Planning practice,” TBG President Bill Odle said. “His leadership, experience, and vision align seamlessly with our commitment to advancing thoughtful, resilient design solutions and further elevating our capabilities as we grow strategically across Texas and beyond.”

Prior to joining TBG, Echeverría served as Director of Design and Planning at McCord Development, where he led the 4,300-acre master plan for Generation Park in Houston. Under his leadership, the project delivered over $200 million in infrastructure and catalyzed $8 billion in vertical development spanning office, multifamily, retail, civic, hospitality, and industrial uses.

With a portfolio that spans Latin America, North America, and Europe, Echeverría brings a sophisticated understanding of cultural, environmental, and regulatory contexts. He has held project management roles with Urban Design Associates and URBE Ltd and served on the senior leadership team at LRK—where he led urban design and planning efforts as Principal. He has contributed to transformative master plans and community development strategies for clients such as Hines, The Howard Hughes Corporation, UNDP, Lennar, Hillwood, and Crescent Communities.

“Joining TBG at this moment of growth and evolution is both exciting and deeply meaningful to me,” Echeverría said. “I’m inspired by the firm’s culture, values, and strategic direction—and energized by the opportunity to collaborate with this talented team to shape places that truly enrich people’s lives.”

A frequent speaker and thought leader, Echeverría has presented at the Urban Land Institute, American Planning Association, and Carnegie Museum of Art, and has taught at Rutgers University and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Partnership Lake Houston, was a trustee of the PHLF Development Corporation, and an active member of ULI’s Urban Revitalization National Council. He is also deeply committed to mentoring emerging designers and championing sustainable, people-first urbanism.
