Zian Zhang

Growing up in Nanjing, China, Zian fondly remembers spending most of her childhood at her grandparents’ house in Nanjing in their garden of towering ancient trees. The garden also housed a “living lab” for a university where she would observe students as they identified plants, collected specimens, mapped and sketched them. Zian also draws inspiration from Olympic National Park, where she was able to take in the dramatic coastal scenery of the Pacific Ocean. With the breath-taking shorelines, dramatic cliffs and sea stacks, she was truly able to take in the power and beauty the natural world holds.
