Yongqin Zhao

Yongqin is from Qidong, China, a coastal city near Shanghai known for its seasonal seafood, which is harder to come by now that he’s living in Central Texas. He makes a mean spinach smoothie, and he’s probably listening to techno, progressive rock, or classic ambient music while doing it. Always curious about the relationship between people and place, a recent trip to Alaska left a lasting impression because of the stark contrast between its wild nature and signs of human presence, which sparked new reflections.
