At TBG Partners, we believe in creating sustainable, vibrant landscapes that not only enhance the beauty of our communities but also support the local ecosystem. That’s why we’re excited to highlight H-E-B’s “Pollinators and Prairies” program, a new initiative announced this week in Texas.

H-E-B’s “Pollinators and Prairies” Program
H-E-B, a beloved Texas-based grocery chain, has launched the “Pollinators and Prairies” program, a comprehensive effort to promote conservation across the state. This initiative, supported by both corporate and conservation partners, focuses on several key areas:

Scientific Research: H-E-B is funding research to better understand and support pollinator populations. This research is crucial for developing strategies to protect these vital species, which play a key role in our food supply and the health of our ecosystems.

Ground Restoration: The program includes efforts to restore native prairies and habitats. By bringing back native plants and creating pollinator-friendly environments, H-E-B is helping to rebuild the natural landscapes that are essential for biodiversity.

Community Engagement: From October 14-30, H-E-B is encouraging Texans to participate in conservation efforts by providing native plants at over 200 stores across the state. This initiative not only helps preserve the local ecosystem but also educates the community on the importance of native plants and pollinators.

Educational Outreach: The program also emphasizes educational outreach to raise awareness about the importance of pollinators and native plants. By educating the public, H-E-B aims to foster a community that is knowledgeable and proactive in conservation efforts1.

Why This Matters to TBG Partners
At TBG Partners, our purpose is to plan and design landscapes that are not only beautiful but also sustainable and resilient. We understand that the health of our landscapes is deeply connected to the health of our ecosystems. Pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, are essential for the reproduction of many plants, including those that provide food and habitat for other wildlife.

By getting involved and supporting initiatives in our state, like H-E-B’s “Pollinators and Prairies” program and others, we can help ensure that our landscapes remain vibrant and sustainable for generations to come. The Pollinators and Prairies program aligns with our commitment to using native plants in our designs, which are better adapted to local conditions and require less water and maintenance than non-native species.

How You Can Get Involved
We encourage our clients and community members across Texas to get involved in conservation efforts. Here are a few ways you can make a difference:

Plant Native Species: Choose native plants for your garden or landscape. They provide the best habitat for local wildlife and are more resilient to local climate conditions.

Create Pollinator Habitats: Include a variety of flowering plants that bloom at different times of the year to provide continuous food sources for pollinators.

Reduce Pesticide Use: Pesticides can harm pollinators. Opt for natural pest control methods whenever possible.

By taking these steps, you can contribute to the health of our ecosystems and support the vital work being done. Together, we can create landscapes that are not only beautiful but also sustainable and thriving with life.
