From CultureMap Austin…

Austin’s housing prices continue to soar, with the median price of a single-family home in the metro area now exceeding $300,000 and the average rent for an apartment sitting at nearly $1,300.

We’ve got good news on the affordability front, though. A project designed to combat Austin’s ever-growing housing costs is coming to an area near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

A planned 198-acre expansion at Oak Ranch in Del Valle, at Pearce Lane and State Highway 130, promises 550 lots for manufactured homes and 260 lots for single-family homes. The developer, Scottsdale, Arizona-based Roberts Communities, says it’ll break ground in early 2019. The first phase includes 210 lots for manufactured (or prefabricated) homes while construction on single-family homes is planned for 2020.
